释名：亦名涅石、羽涅、羽泽；煅枯者名巴石，轻白者名柳絮矾。

气味：酸、寒、无毒。 

主治：1、痰中风。用白矾一两、牙皂角五钱，共研细。每服一钱，温开水送下。
2、胸胃积痰(头痛，不思饮食)。矾石一两，入水二升中煮成一升，加蜜半合。频频取饮，不久即大吐积痰。如不吐，可喝一点开水引吐。
3、风痰病。用生白矾一两、细茶五钱，共研为末。和蜜成丸，如梧子大。小儿一岁吃十丸，大人可吃五十丸。久服，痰自大便排出，病根可断。此方名“化痰丸。
4、牙关紧闭不开。用白矾、食盐等分，研细，搽牙，涎出自开。
5、喉痈乳蛾。用白矾三钱，放锅中加水熔化，投入劈天的巴豆三粒，在火上煎干。去豆，研矾为末，点患处，病重得以醋调罐。此方名“济生帐带散”，亦名“通箠散”。
6、咽喉谷贼肿痛。用生白矾末点肿处，吐涎。以有痒感为度。
7、小舌垂长，咽中烦闷。用白矾(烧灰)、食盐等分，研细。筷子蘸药频点小舌上，涎水充出，小舌即渐复位。
8、牙齿肿痛。用白矾一两，烧成灰，蜂房一两，微灸。每用二钱，水煎含漱，去涎。
9、齿龈出血不止。用白矾一两，加在水三升中煮成一升，含漱。
10、口舌生疮。用白矾、铅丹(水飞，炒过)等分，研细，搽患处。
11、小儿鹅口疮(满口白烂)。用枯矾(煅过的白矾)一钱、丹砂二分，共研为末，每次以少许敷患处。一天三次，有效。
12、鼻血不止。用枯矾末吹鼻内。
13、鼻中息肉。用白矾烧成末，和猪油、棉花裹好，塞鼻孔中。几天后，息肉脱落。又方：白矾一两，蓖麻仁七个，盐梅肉五个，麝香少许，捣匀，捏成丸子，用棉花崐裹着塞鼻内，息肉自下。
14、双目红肿。用甘草水磨白矾，敷眼泡上，或用枯矾频搽眉心。
15、烂眼睑。用煅白矾一两、铜青三钱，共研为末，泡开水中，澄清后以水洗眼。16、耳。用枯矾粉一两、铅丹粉(炒)一钱，和匀，每日吹入耳中。
17、风温膝痛。用白矾烧过，研细。取一汤匙矾粉投沸水中，淋洗痛处。
18、黄肿、水肿。用白矾二两、青矾一两、白面粉半斤，同炒红；另用醋煮米粉成糊，和药为丸。每服三十丸，枣汤送下。此方名“推车丸”。
19、女劳黄疸。方见“硝石”条。
20、妇女白沃(月经不调，子宫坚硬，常从阴道中流出白色污物)。用杏仁同烧过的白矾调匀，加蜜成丸，枣核大，塞阴道中。一天换药一次。
21、遗尿。用枯矾、牡蛎粉，等分为末，每服一小匙，温酒送下。一天服三次。
22、二便不通。用白矾末填满脐中，滴入冷水，如觉冷透腹内，二便自通。如脐平不能填药时，周围用纸圈隔起来。
23、上吐下泻。用枯矾末一钱，百沸汤调下。
24、伏暑泄泻。用白矾煅为末，醋糊成丸，按年龄大小取适当分量，木瓜汤送下。此方名“玉华丹”。
25、老人泄泻不止。用枯矾一两、诃黎勒(煨过)七钱半，共研为末。每服二钱，米汤送下。
26、赤白痢。用白矾(水飞)和面粉(醋飞)做成丸子，如梧子大。赤痢，以甘草汤送下。
27、反胃呕吐。用白矾、硫磺各二两，烧过，加丹砂一分，共研为末，面糊成丸，如小豆大。每服十五丸，姜汤送下。又方：枯矾三两，加蒸饼糊成丸子，如梧子大每服十五丸，定心服，米汤送下。
28、化痰治嗽。用明矾二两、生参末一两、苦醋二升，熬成膏子。等稍干，做成丸子，如豌豆大。每次取一丸放在舌头下面，痰消嗽止。又方：只用明矾末，加醋 紛糊，做成丸子，如梧子大。每睡时服二、三十丸，茶送下。又方：明矾半烧半生，山栀子炒黑，等分为末，姜汁糊为丸，服法同上方。又方：白矾、茶叶，等分为 末糊成丸子，服法亦同上方。
29、刀伤。用白矾、铅丹，等分为末，敷伤处。
30、漆疮作痒。用白矾煎汤洗擦。
31、牛皮癣。用石榴皮蘸白矾粉搽抹。切勿用醋。
32、小儿风疹。用白矾烧过投热酒中，蘸酒涂疹。
33、脸上身上长瘊子。用白矾、地肤子等分，煎水，经常洗擦。
34、鱼口疮。用枯矾研细，调面敷上。
35、趾甲疮(趾甲嵌入肉中作疮，不能穿鞋)。用白矾烧灰涂在疮上，好肉慢慢生出。嵌到肉里的甲鱼，要小心剥去。
36、鸡眼肉刺。用枯矾、铅丹、朴硝，等分为末，搽患处。次日洗脚两、三次。
37、疔疮肿毒。用白矾末五钱，和煨熟的葱白，捣成丸子，如梧子大。每服二钱五分，酒送下。无效，可再用。久病的人和妊妇，忌用此药。
38、痈疽肿毒。用好白矾一两，生研，调在七钱熔化了的黄蜡中，和成丸子，如梧子大。每服十丸，逐渐加至二十丸，熟水送下。此方名“黄矾丸”，亦名“蜡矾丸，不仅能止痛生肌，还能防毒气内攻。
